The Ocean and The Sun

Last week, while visiting friends staying in Tacoma, Washington, who happens to own a sail boat, we sailed up in the northern Puget Sound. His boat (well, it's really a ship I think) is a gorgeous 42 foot ship called the Symra. I really love that name. I don't exactly know why, but it just sounds good to my ears. I think it means "anemone" in Norwegian.

We launched from the dock in Anacortes, a few miles north of Seattle and sailed out into the San Juan Islands. It was a great day, although not much wind (which I wasn't too sad about; sailing is not exactly my cup of tea.) Still, we had a great time. My dad and I, his friend from high-school and his son, relaxing, listening to a little Bob Marley, eating a great meal, and then letting the gentle swells of the ocean rock us to sleep. This pic was snapped as the sun was setting.

It's nothing special, but I liked the way the sun hit the water. The seaweed floating in the middle of the picture make it just a bit more interesting as well. This looks great when it's enlarged. The image above i probably too small to really see, but the original makes a great desktop background. Email me if you want the original ;)

I plan on going out tomorrow possibly, or the next day to a small beach to get some pics.

So, as always, it's been a pleasure having this one-way conversation that I so much enjoy (and I hope you do too).
