Mischievious Lyle

Posted by Danny Pen , Tuesday, November 4, 2008 4:27 AM

This is Lyle. He also came with me on the trek. I don't remember taking this picture actually; but I like it anyway. To me, his eyes seem to go with a mischievious grin, although this is mere speculation, as I don't remember this. I'll leave it up to you to use your imagination. Go nuts.

A Minute on the Creek

Posted by Danny Pen 4:22 AM

This is the same creek that I posted before, but taken from a different angle. You can see that the surrounding landscape is similar to the first photo. I don't know what it was about this place that attracted me, but there was something that intrigued me about this part of the trail. I stopped here for some time to get some photos of the creek.

Autumn Leaves

Posted by Danny Pen 4:17 AM

With this one I really wanted to emphasize the droplet of water on the leaf. I gave this one a really shallow death-of-field, so that the parts that were in focus (the leaf and water droplet in this case), were the focal points of the photo. The red leaf is a good representation of the current season. It's simple, but I like it.

Boulders and Stones

Posted by Danny Pen 4:12 AM

I liked the scenery here. The contrasting stones with the flowers and shrubery.

Josh

Posted by Danny Pen , Sunday, October 26, 2008 5:40 AM

This is Josh. He's one of my friends who came with me on the trek. Here I was just messing around, taking random pics, and this one turned out to be pretty good (with a little tweaking here and there).

Waterfall

Just playing around with shutter speed...

Just a pile of stones

Posted by Danny Pen 5:34 AM

This is...well, I guess it's just a pile of stones. I dunno exactly why I took this picture. I guess I just liked the way they were stacked.

Flying Kites

Posted by Danny Pen 5:25 AM

Hey all, me again. Just got back from long trek to the Khumbu region. I finally got a new lens too, so I have lots of new good pics (if I may say so myself). This particular one was taken from quite a distance away ('cause my lens is JUST that good!). This was taken during Dashain, where young kids fly kites pretty much all day long for about a week.

Hopelessly Lost

Posted by Danny Pen , Tuesday, September 2, 2008 1:30 AM

These small wooden sticks were strewn across the entire beach. I took a couple of macros of them, but this is the best one, what with the contrasting colors of the brown sticks against the green blades of grass.

Flowing Shells

Posted by Danny Pen 1:24 AM

This one was taken on a beacn (obviously) in South Carolina. I went for a morning walk, and saw these shells strewn across the entire beach. They all had somewhat of a trail behind them where the water washed over them, and then fell back into the ocean. The water soaked up some of the sand, and left these lines trailing behind the shells.

Escape

Posted by Danny Pen 1:14 AM

Here's another one from the Fourth. I took this one towards the end of our own little "show", and as the show progress, I slowed down the shutter speed more and more. So this one had a ridiculously slow shutter speed, and here's the result.

Sparklers

Posted by Danny Pen 1:09 AM

This is another one from the 4th. My young cousins insisted that we buy her some sparklers, so I got a couple shots of her hand waving the thing around. I slowed down the shutter speed majorly, so that it would make it look like she was moving the sparkler really fast. I think the outcome is pretty cool

Omnious Fireworks

Posted by Danny Pen 12:59 AM

Hey all; apologies for the huge gap between the last post and this one. My computer totally crashed about a month ago, so I have to use my mom's laptop for the time being.

This particular picture was taken on the fourth of July, in Oregon when I was visiting my Dad's family. The man in the photo is my Uncle David, setting off one of the many fireworks we bought. The fireworks weren't the most impressive, but I was able to get some interesting shots anyhow. I like this one particularly because of the omnious shadow on David's face, giving the photo sort of a creepy feeling.

Palms Outside of Karnak

Posted by Danny Pen , Thursday, June 26, 2008 4:28 AM

Some palm trees just outside of Karnak. A little bright, but what to do.

More From Karnak

Posted by Danny Pen 4:25 AM

Another one from Karnak. I wanted to get some shots of people, in their "natural" habitat

Hieroglyphics

Posted by Danny Pen 4:23 AM

Here's a macro of the Hieroglyphics (spelled correctly?) on the walls of the temple. Each wall was lined with endless lines of this complex writing. It was really cool

Karnak Temple

Posted by Danny Pen 4:21 AM

This one was taken at Karnak Temple, just outside the main entrance to the temple. The sky was a great color that day, so I got a lot of good shots.

Columns

Posted by Danny Pen 4:16 AM

Hey all, me again. Apologies again for my absence. I've been pretty busy, but not that I have heaps of time of my hand (good ol' summer vacation!) I will be able to post up some new pics. In April I went to Egypt, and just about 2 weeks ago I was in Tanzania, so I've got alotta pics . I'll start with the Egypt ones

Sadhu

Posted by Danny Pen , Monday, March 10, 2008 5:32 AM

Here's another Sadhu. I like this one, especially the contrast and although you cannot see much of his face, the expression in his eyes seem very deep and intense to me. I was lucky enough to capture his face at just the right moment.

Pashupati Temple Wall

Posted by Danny Pen 5:25 AM

Here's one side of a small shrine in Pashupati. Apparantly this is where the Sadhu's go to sleep during the festival. I just liked how it looked, with the graffiti on the wall.

Sadhu

Posted by Danny Pen 5:20 AM

Another Sadhu. This guy actually tried to sell me some of his weed! The other guys were smoking it themselves haha

Monkeys

Posted by Danny Pen 5:09 AM

Took this one down at Pashupati also. Thought this would make a cool pic.

Shivaratri Sadhu

Posted by Danny Pen 4:31 AM

Here's a pic of a local Sadhu, taken down at Pashupati during Shivaratri. I wanted to take a bunch of facial shots of Sadhu's, almost like a small "project" about Sadhu's. They really have amazingly interesting faces, and I wanted to capture some of them. This is the first of many Sadhu pics I took. I'll post up some more later.

Pink Flowers

Posted by Danny Pen , Thursday, March 6, 2008 5:00 AM

Here are some more flowers, taken in my back yard.

Black And White Flowers

Posted by Danny Pen 4:55 AM

Hello Hello. I'm back. Apologies for the huge gap between this and the last post. I have been pretty busy. Here are some flowers that I had in my front yard. Nothing fancy, I just needed something to post up

Final Pigeons

Posted by Danny Pen , Sunday, January 27, 2008 6:09 AM

Here's the last of the pigeons. This is a different flock of birds; I only took 3 pics here.

People

Posted by Danny Pen 6:01 AM

...Quite simply put, It's people.

...And MORE Pigeons...

Posted by Danny Pen 5:58 AM

I like this one. With the golden-ish light on the Pigeons wings

...More Pigeons...

Posted by Danny Pen 5:54 AM

Some more pigeons. Black and white so as not to seem too repetetive

Pigeons

Posted by Danny Pen 5:49 AM

I took this one this morning, down in New Road. There were hundreds of pigeons (is that teh right spelling?) and they looked really cool in the light. I took like 15 photos of these pigeons, so be prepared to see more....

Shivapuri Pass

Posted by Danny Pen , Wednesday, January 2, 2008 12:33 AM

Here's an old photo; taken up at the top of Shivapuri awhile back. I really like the lighting in this one

Taking A Break

Posted by Danny Pen , Tuesday, January 1, 2008 5:23 AM

These guys are playing some sort of game (I don't know exactly what it is) but it looked pretty interesting...

Panoramic Shot

Posted by Danny Pen 5:19 AM

I tried to make a panorama-shot here. I took three different shots of this wall, and pieced them together on Photoshop. It's pretty easy to see where the cuts are hehe

Bricks On A Bicycle

Posted by Danny Pen 5:16 AM

These kids were piling brick after brick on to this bike, but it kept falling down; however that didn't stop them trying it again after each time it fell down!
